  3. SSC Verification Forms were due OCTOBER 4th, 2013 • If your school has not submitted their SSC forms, make sure to submit them ASAP. • Parent Involvement Policy due November 15th, 2013 • School-Parent Compact due November 15th, 2013 • Annual Meeting Sign-Ins and Agenda due November 22nd, 2013

  4. PARKING LOT! • Write down the questions you may have during the presentation and post in the parking lot. • Make sure to include your name, school name, and email address so we can email you an answer.

Grounding Activity: Sample School-Parent Compact Round Robin • You will each silently read a sample School-Parent Compact at your table. • Every two minutes, I will say switch and you will rotate that sample clockwise. • As you read, think about the similarities and differences between the sample and your school’s compact. • We will do four rounds.

  7. Objectives • Title I Coordinators will: • Have a tool on how to create/modify their school’s Parent Involvement Policy and School-Parent Compact.

  8. 5 School Goals for Parent Engagement • Provide a welcoming environment for families ad invite them to participate as equal partner in the education of their children. • Provide parents opportunities to acquire necessary information, knowledge, and skills to support their children’s education at home and at school. • Engage parents in the school’s volunteer programso they can participate in supporting school-wide, classroom, and parent involvement activities. • Respond to parent concerns and/or complaintsto ensure child’s educational needs are met. • Comply with all LAUSD, State, and Federal requirements regarding parent involvement.

School-Parent Compact: Guide to Quality • Read your School-Parent Compact. • Using the tool, “School-Parent Compact Guide to Quality: A Written Agreement to Work Together to Student Success,” assess the quality of your compact. • Is the School-Parent Compact considered high quality? Explain why or why not.

  12. Each One, Teach One • Write down one area your School-Parent Compact you consider to be high quality. • Write down one area your School-Parent Compact you consider can be improved. • Find an eye partner from a different table and share with them your answers.
