  1. One Heart and One Soul

  2. Old Testament • Consider Hezekiah’s Reforms: • “The hand of God was also on Judah to give them one heart to do what the king and the princes commanded by the word of the Lord” (2 Chron. 30:1-12, esp. vs. 12). • Reflect on Jeremiah’s Prophecy: • “I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them” (Jer. 32:36-41, esp. vs. 39).

  3. Old Testament • Ponder Ezekiel’s Pronouncement: • “I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them” (Ezek. 11:14-21, esp. vs. 19-20).

  4. New Testament • Observe the Example of The Early Church: • “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart” and “the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul”(Acts 2:41-47; 4:32). • Respect the Apostolic Admonitions: • Paul declared that we are one body (Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:14-26; Eph. 2:13-22; 4:4-6; Col. 3:15-17), • and must be of one mind (Rom. 12:15-16; 15:5-6; 1 Cor. 1:10; 2 Cor. 13:11; Phil. 1:27; 2:1-4).

  5. Conclusion • Let us appreciate the blessings of unity (Psa. 133:1-3). • Through obedience to the gospel, let us seek unity with God the Father and Christ the Son; let us also cultivate true unity among believers (John 17:20-26; Eph. 4:1-6).
