Winter 2012-13 • Work everyday! • Follow the plan and take responsibility • NO EXCUSUES!
How to be successful • Be in shape! • Know the bunts, cuts & relays, be in the right place • Arm care • Extra work • BE READY JAN. 27th!
Execution Round • Hit and Run • Approach = Hit the ball on the ground to opposite fielder • Move runner = cut the plate in half and get a good pitch! Runners can be advanced by a bunt (drag,SAC) • Runner on 3rd INF in – get a ball in the air! Look for pitches up and keep a great approach! • Runner on 3rd INF back – Ground balls to the middle of the field WIN!
Oppo/Prep Round • Approach = staying on pitches and DRIVING the ball to the middle of the field. • Why = Big hits come the other way. In big situations have a great approach. It will keep you on pitches and protect you from off-speed pitches.
2-0,3-1 • NO rollover Ground balls or POPups the other way. Don’t be afraid to swing and miss. • Plan = Get a good pitch in your zone. Make sure your hands get set! Keep your approach.
2K hitting • Plan = choke up, spread out, and stay on your legs. • FIGHT! • Average FLD% in ASUN around .960. Putting pressure on the defense to make plays every AB. • Great 2K approach allows us to be selective in advantage counts and BUILD PITCH COUNT late.
Hitting • Hit everyday you can. • Hit the ball the other way for first round of anything you do. (BP, Front toss, Tee) • Commit to warm-up every time you hit! Our warm-up is not about the drills as much as it is about routine. Our routine will get you in the right frame of mind to get better. • Be consistent with your swings and preparation!
Thoughts • WIN!! • Stats will take care of themselves if we play execution baseball. • “ The most selfish thing you can do is play team baseball”
