  2. Motivation Objective: Estimate OOME cost associated with Transmission Planned Outages Case Description: • A TRANSCO requested a planned transmission outages from mm/12 to mm/21. To facilitate this transmission outage request, ERCOT has to limit the aggregated output of 6 units which are connected to the bus of transmission line. • During the outage period, ERCOT has to OOM down the output of one or more generators based on their premium and pay for the energy deployed. • We only provide the cost associated with energy deployed. Some other costs, like OOMC cost for voltage control, manual instructions, are not included.

  3. Result -1 During the outage period, ERCOT deployed totally 80,231 MW Down OOME, spent total of $3.38 million in 10 days. The average daily capacity deployed is 334MW. Maximum daily capacity is 561MW If this transmission outage is scheduled during the maintenance period of one of the generators with, say, 600MW, the total cost of the OOME would be Eliminated.
