According to Newsbytes.PH, Internet giant Google has authenticated that it pulled out an outsourced work from the Cebu operations of BPO firm Sykes. Sykes Philippines is the primary branch of Florida-based transnational BPO firm, Sykes here in the Philippines. According to some social media posts, the claim involves that some outsourcing companies’ employees siphoned off 60 million Philippine pesos. That is approximately $ 1.23 million. They converted Google gift cards to Bitcoins. Moreover, Sykes reported to the media about discovering that the employees violated their standards of conduct. However, it did not specifically mention the nature of the workers’ violations and the specific location they are based in the country. Additionally, reports state that around 300 workers lost their jobs due to the incident. Sykes have outwardly denied the claim. It says that innocent employees did not lose jobs. Furthermore, Sykes stated it has clear policies and procedures to stop, identify, and manage instances of fraud. Moreover, it states that the company did not lay off employees who did not associate with the scam. “We are constantly assessing our business needs and have decided to shift this business to another vendor in the Philippines,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement sent to Newsbytes.PH on Sunday, Aug. 23.
