  2. Purpose • Response to parent request for time to ask questions • Speak with your Trustee • Respond to emergent topics have been selected, but questions on other topics welcome

  3. 2011-2012 Budget • Base Grant increase equals salary increase of 4.52%/$13.0M • Reduction of grants by $12.0M • Net revenue increase was $1.0, < than ½ of 1% • Provincial negotiated salary increase 4.52% but revenue increase <0.5% • Result – deficit for 2011-2012/funded by the Accumulated Operating Surplus • Staff reduction – 92 FTE/60 FTE were class size funding and AISI funding cuts • 32 FTE reduced as a result of changes to staffing allocations • Budgeted enrolments increase of 600 students • Current count – 1500 student increase • The additional student increase resulted in a number of additional teacher positions which reduced the 93 FTE position cuts

District practice of community involvement through Public Participation (IAP2 model) • Began with the IAP2 model during the 2007-2008 school year • Involves “partnering with the public in each aspect of decisions including the development of alternatives and the identification of the preferred solution • Providing the public with information to assist them in understanding the problems, the alternatives, opportunities and/or solutions

  8. District practice of community involvement through Public Participation (IAP2 model) • The district will look to stakeholders for direct advice and innovation in formulating solutions and will incorporate their advice and recommendations into decisions to the maximum extent possible
