  3. Acceptable Use Policy • Must be signed and dated prior to receiving a network account. • Do not let others (especially students) use your account. • Change your Password every 30 days. • Anything done under your digital signature is your responsibility.

  4. User Accounts and Passwords • Username is first initial followed by last name. (John Smith would be jsmith) • Password must be changed at first login and every 32 days. • Passwords must be 6 characters long. • 3 failed login attempts will lock account for 15 minutes. • Change password on a school computer with no other programs running. Hit (Control+Alt+Delete) to reset password.

  5. E-Mail • All accounts set up through Microsoft Live • Available anywhere at www.outlook.com • Username is complete E-Mail address • Using Microsoft Outlook 2007 is allowed; but not supported.

  6. Technology Requests • For break/fix items, fill out a workorder at www.newport.kyschools.us/workorder • Helpdesk available through NKU Virtual-CIO. Call 572-6000 or chat http://vcio-sc.nku.eduThis is available for home use. • For technology related questions/inquires, e-mail kevin.mccormick@newport.kyschools.us • Individualized help available by appointment

  7. Teacher Technology Standards • Standard 6 - Part of Evaluation Process • Initial Level Indicators for 1st year Teachers • Advanced Level Indicators for Experienced Teachers

  8. Student Technology Standards • ISTE/NETS National Indicators • Kentucky Department of Education – Program of Studies • Online Assessment is Required for Students

  9. My Files Utility • Access to H: drive documents at home • Available through: www.newport.kyschools.us/myfiles • Files cannot be saved directly from home - must be uploaded.

  10. Internet Safety • All online access by students must be monitored • Students may not be sent to a lab or library unsupervised • Over a million websites blocked • Meet Bobo

  11. Social Networking • Be careful on Facebook and other social networking sites. • Serve as an example of good Digital Citizenship for Students. • Instruction using Blogging or other social networking must have prior approval by administration. • SharePoint or SchoolPoint must be used for Instructional Projects.

  12. Teacher Webpages • Online Classroom Pages coming in October • SchoolPoint Pages must be used • Example page

  13. SharePoint Resources • Used by district and school departments to share information • Calendars available for reserving labs and equipment • Supports blogs and wiki’s • Available through www.newport.kyschools.us/sharepoint

  14. Infinite Campus • Student Information System • Teachers use: Attendance and Grades • Mentor Teachers available at schools • Available through https://infinitecampus.kyschools.us/campus/newportIND.jsp
