  1. Status of SPD simulation By Bjørn S. Nilsen The Ohio State University Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  2. Outline • Earlier Comparisons to Test beams. • Some Comments on the Models. • Preliminarynew results • Work still on going. Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  3. Earlier Comparisons ALICE-INT-2001-48 Bari-Salerno Dubna Test Beam Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  4. Basically a port of the NA57 pixel simulator. Geometrical Charge Sharing. Capacitive, or other, Coupling between neighboring pixels, turned off. Basically a port from the old FORTRAN GALICE SPD simulator. Geometrical Charge Sharing and Charge Diffusion. The Models Bari-Salerno Dubna Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  5.   Continue • Track path, x=-12.5+25*t, y=-150+300*t, z=-200+400*t where 0.0t1.0; d(t)=300*t. • N(r,t)=1/(4Dd(t)/v)3/2 exp{-(r-r0)2/4Dd(t)/v} • D=KT/e, v= |E| 4Dd(t)/v =4KTd(t)/e|E|. Delta Function Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  6. Original Comparison All Physical processes on including –rays. Maximum continuous energy loss 75KeV. Maximum step, Through Chip. ParticleGun? Present work All Physical processes on including –rays. Maximum continuous energy loss 35KeV. Maximum step, 75m. ParticleBox Relevant Changes To AliRoot Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  7. Present ResultsPreliminary-Work Not Finished • Generator, ParticleBox, allows ’s to cover all locations within a pixel. • Generator, ParticleGun, ’s hit the same place on the same pixel every time. • New Test beam data has been taken and needs simulation. Linear Scales ~51% for 1 ~46% for 2 ~96% for 1 ~ 5% for 2 For test-beam we have ~49% for 1 and ~49% for 2 (z: ~95% and 6.5%). We need to make a simulation with the exact same condition as there were in the test-beam. Also need to compare with new test-beam and NA57. Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen

  8. Double Peak in SPD Mips Peak Number of Pixels with a given signal size Threshold 2000. Signal size, electrons 200m Thick Si Noise 200. Presented at The ALICE Offline Week, Bjørn S. Nilsen
