  2. General Expectations At the start of the lesson • Arrive on time and in correct uniform. • Enter room sensibly. • Sit in allocated seat – all classes will have a seating plan. • Diary, exercise book and equipment should be placed on your table before the lesson starts.

  3. General Expectations During the lesson • Work is dated and the lesson objective is copied down. • Follow teacher instructions quickly. • Only one voice should be heard during class discussions. • Make contributions by putting your hand up. • Written work in pen, diagrams with a ruler and pencil. • Stay focused throughout the lesson. • Ask for help if you are unsure.

  4. General Expectations At the end of the lesson • Copy down any homework into your diary. • Chairs should be tucked under the desk. • Stand behind your chair and leave sensibly when dismissed. • If you haven’t understood the lesson ask the teacher when you can talk to them about what you are finding difficult.

  5. General Expectations Equipment • Pen • Pencil • Ruler • Compass • Protractor • Calculator Geometry sets £1.25 and calculators £5.50 are sold from the maths office at break time.

  6. Exercise Books and Progress Folders • You should bring your exercise book to EVERY lesson. • Progress folders will be stored in your classroom. • All work should be to the best of your ability. • All work in your book should be self or peer assessed. • Formally assessed work will be kept in your progress folder. • There should be NO graffiti in or on your book – detentions will be issued for any graffiti seen and if necessary you will need to buy a new book.

  7. Exercise Books and Progress Folders • Marking codes and highlighting will be used to give feedback on your work. M – Method Green – excellent C – Communication Yellow – satisfactory U – Understanding Pink – poor Q – Quantity P – Presentation E – Effort

  8. Maths Support • Every lunchtime there is support available in A11 1.20-1.50pm. • Your teacher will always be willing to help you outside of lessons but it is best to try and arrange a time in advance. • www.mymaths.co.uk is a great website to use for explanations and practice questions. • Revision guides can be bought from the maths office for £4.

  9. Maths Class Groups • For the first half term (until the end of October) you will be taught maths in your form groups. • After half term you will be mixed up and placed into a group that will go at a pace that is suitable for you. We will give you a short test and see how you have settled into Maths at Hendon as well as look at tests from your primary school. If you are worried about this process please talk to your teacher.
