All About Me • 50 years old, 25th year of teaching! • Married, 2 sons – Michael – 11, Daniel – 9. • Favorite sports – All of them, golf, baseball, etc. • Favorite book – “If you give a pig a pancake” • Favorite pastime – Reading, playing golf, hanging out with my family. • Favorite food – Pizza, broccoli, chips/salsa

  3. Course Guidelines (AKA Rules) • Follow directions the first time they are given. • Be prepared for class. • Respect each other and the teacher. • Always move under control.

  4. Consequences • Verbal warning • Time out from activity • Time out from class • Responsibility room • Conference with student and teacher/parent or Principal. Thinking spot 1. Think about why your teacher sent you here. 2. Review classroom guidelines. 3. Return to the class activity when you are ready to follow the classroom guidelines.

  5. Procedures • Important • Save time in the long run • Makes classroom safer. • More fun for everyone. • Keeps your teacher happy!! • Will be reviewed – over and over – until we get it!!

  6. Entering the gym • Walk into the gym • Keep eyes forward • Stay in your own personal space • Keep hands/feet to yourself • Listen for the whistle • On whistle – eyes on teacher, hands on knees. “Listening position”

  8. Warm-up and Squads • Move quickly • Move under control • To assigned squad spot • Stand at attention ready for instructions

  10. Start and Stop Signals • Start • On the word “go” • Stop • On signal, usually a whistle • Stop immediately • Eyes on teacher • Hands on knees

  12. Teacher Directed Instruction (Circle Time) • Move to the circle • Move under control • Sit down in your own personal space • Hands in lap • Eyes on teacher

  14. Lining up and Leaving the Gym • On signal, walk to the goodbye line. • Stand on assigned number. • Face forward • Keep hands and feet to yourself • 20 seconds

  16. Resolving Conflict • Take turns • Get a different piece of equipment • Share • Paper, scissors, rock

  17. Taking Care of Equipment • Do exactly what you are asked to do! • Only help if you are asked to! • Walk with the equipment to put it away. • Carry the equipment to put it away.

  18. Special Situations • Fire Drill • Tornado Procedures • Announcements over intercom • Substitute Teacher • Stay calm • Get quiet immediately – listening position. • Stay together as a class • Go to designated area • No talking!
