Roles and Responsibilities within a Project(Handout 3-1) • Projects include many different roles • Principal roles • Ancillary roles • Information customers • For small projects, one person may have many different roles • For larger projects, many persons may be involved in the project • Each project participant needs to understand their roles related to data management for a project • Important to review these responsibilities during the start-up of a project (planning and training meetings)

Data Management Responsibilities(Handout 3-2) • Project leader has several specific responsibilities • Data collection, data entry, quality assurance, documentation, etc. • Data manager also has specific responsibilities • Database development, standards, access, training • Both must work together on some tasks • Design • Maintenance • Sharing • Archiving • Protection

Information Deliverables Specifications for Research Projects(Handout 3-3) • Table provides a list of common deliverables for research projects • Deliverable checklist helps identify these products • This checklist is very useful when establishing a contract for outside researchers • As products are sent in from a project, these need to be reviewed • Table provides a suggested list of individuals who would be involved in these reviews
