  1. Welcome to open house! I am very excited to be teaching your child this year!

  2. From the office:-remember there is no drop off of students before 7:15 am!-When you come to pick up your child, wait at the bottom of the stairs-School ends at 2:55. please be on time to pick up your child!

  3. Hug Zone! • This year we are implementing a hug zone. This is the area parents will be allowed to be in before school. Once the students are dismissed from the gym or cafeteria, parents are not allowed to go past these zones. • This is to help our school stay safe and monitor the adults that are in the building. We all want our students and children to be safe, and to not have to worry about their school

  4. S.H.A.R.K.S • We are also doing a new behavior system! Instead of Shark Standards we will have these expectations for our students. They are as follows: S-Show H-Honor A-Accountability R-Respect K-Kindness to S-Succeed

  5. Attendance • Law requires that your child should be at school. If your child is going to be absent due to sickness or doctors visit, please bring in a note the following day. • Also, keep in mind that partial day absences will start to count at 8:15 am. Try to be on time to school everyday! • There will be a note going home later to explain attendance. Please sign and return the form back.

  6. Grades • Graded papers are sent home every Tuesday in their Shark folder. If a student has a grade below a 70, they may redo the assignment. I will then average the two grades together and get the new grade. All make up assignments are due by promptly. • All work that is not completed in class will be assigned as homework.

  7. Behavior • Students conduct grades are done on a weekly basis. If a child receives a conduct mark, it stays with them throughout the week. A child could get a conduct mark on Monday, and their grade would be a 95 the next day. • For positive behavior, I will give ClassDojo points. Students can go online and edit their avatars, check points, and look at their classmates avatars. The points they receive at the end of the day will be given to the student in classroom money. They will be able to buy rewards with that money!

  8. Technology • Our class at some point this fall will be receiving 1:1 ipads. This means that each student in our class will have their personal ipad. These will stay at school and will be used for classwork. You will receive more information when we actually receive the ipads! • Be sure to check out our class website! It has a lot of great announcements, links to help students, and different information on it! www.mscarlilesclassnews.weebly.com • Please follow me on Twitter by texting Text Follow @misscarlile2 to 40404 • Please sign up to text me using Portfoliyo by texting bymgbc to 415-504-3200 • Headphones!
