Enrollment in Released Time Seminary Click to continue “The bishop and his counselors personally encourage ... youth of the appropriate age to participate in seminary…” “Enrollment of youth … in seminary … is the responsibility of priesthood leaders, with assistance from [representatives from Seminaries and Institutes of Religion]” (Church Handbook of Instructions, 1:130-131).

Two parts to the enrollment process Click to continue • Enrollment in released time seminary is a two-part process: • Obtain and deliver signed parental permission documents (Request for Released Time forms) and a complete Potential Seminary Students report to the seminary. From this information, seminary personnel can determine (a) who to expect in seminary and (b) others that may benefit from our additional, joint enrollment efforts. • Students register for released time with the school (parents and youth may be reminded to register for Released Time as they register for other classes in the Spring).

Needed documents Click to continue • This presentation outlines part 1 of the process. • Obtain and deliver signed parental permission documents (Request for Released Time forms) and a complete Potential Seminary Students report to the seminary. From this information, seminary personnel can determine (a) who to expect in seminary and (b) others that may benefit from our additional, joint enrollment efforts.

  5. Sign into MLS Sign in Click “Seminaries and Institutes” Click, “Seminary Released Time Form” Click to continue

  6. Print Request for Released Time Form Select beginning and ending ages (generally 14 and 17). Select the appropriate school year. Click to continue

  7. Print Request for Released Time Form 1. Select students for whom a Request for Released Time form is needed OR click “Select All.” 2. Print the forms. Click to continue

  8. Distribute, collect, verify, and review Click to continue Distribute forms to parents. Collect completed forms from parents. Verify forms for accuracy and completeness. Ensure that all blank fields (“To the principal __________ School”, grade, cell phone, work phone, email, signature, etc.) are complete. This enables contact from the seminary. If incomplete, return to parents. Review with bishop

  9. Return to MLS Sign in Click “Seminaries and Institutes” Click, “Seminary Released Time” Click to continue

  10. Enter Grade and School Names From each completed Request for Released Time form, enter the grade and the school name for each youth. Click to continue

  11. Enter Grade and School Names For each youth for whom a Request for Released Time form was not completed… … enter the grade and the school name and click“No.” This will allow for further invitations to participate. Click to continue

  12. Review, correct, and print Review for accuracy and make any needed changes. Click “Save” and then “Print.” Click to continue

  13. The final page(s) of the report indicate youth for whom a Request for Released Timeform was NOT received (no check mark). Page(s) with no Request for Released Time Forms Page(s) for “Woodrock Charter” Page(s) for “Rockwood Junior High” Page(s) for “Rockwood High School” Click to continue The printed report groups students by the school that they will attend (check marks on the school name indicate receipt of a Request for Released Time form).

  14. Return documents Request for Released Time forms Potential Seminary Students for [selected school year] report Click to continue Return all completed Request for Released Time forms and the Completed Potential Seminary Students for [selected school year] report

  15. Part 1 of the process is complete When forms are delivered back to the seminary, part 1 of the process is complete.

  16. Part 2 Students still need to register for released time with local schools (parents and youth may be reminded to register for Released Time as they register for other classes in the Spring).
