  8. THE PURPOSE AND PLACE OF FIELD ED. IN THE CURRICULUM VTS’ Field Education program currently is designed: • Primarily for M.Div. seminarians • To provide experiential, contextual learning opportunities to assist seminarians with: • Integrating their study of Christian tradition and their practice of Christian ministry • Developing their liturgical & leadership abilities • Enhancing their personal and professional growth, and • Promoting ongoing theological reflection on the practice of ministry

  13. Alternatives to Traditional Field Ed. Program • HYBRID FIELD ED. • Weekday Option • January Term Intensive • Summer Term Intensive • Extra, non-credit semester • MINISTRY RESIDENT PROGRAM (MRP) • FE begins in Senior Year (30 hrs./wk in parish) • Continue in same parish the following year (40+ hrs./wk.)

The seminarian LAY COMMITTEE • Small group at FE site whose purpose is to: • Assist the seminarian in his/her development as a Christian minister, and • Walk, grow and learn with him/her as fellow pilgrims and disciples who share common joys and struggles in life and faith. • Usually 2 hr. monthly meetings. • Lay Committee Orientations and Assessment Workshops.
