Needs for the test • 2 #2 Pencils • 2 pens (blue or black only) • Snacks must be left outside the testing room • No bags • You are NOT permitted to bring your cellphone
Part I: Multiple Choice • 55 Multiple Choice questions based on documents, photos, cartoons, and reading passages. • You will fill out the answer sheet in pencil • You must erase mistakes completely • 55 minutes to complete the MC questions. • You may NOT read or move onto the short answer questions
Part I: Short Answers • 4 short answer questions and you must answer all parts that they are asking in PEN • Do NOT write outside the boxes • Must be in complete sentences and you can list a), b) etc., but better to write in paragraph form • 50 minutes to complete all four short answers.
Part II: Free Response • Must be in PEN • Total Time is 1 hr. 30 minutes. • Suggested reading time 15 minutes • Suggested Question 1 (DBQ) writing time 40 minutes • Suggested Question 2 OR 3 (FRQ) writing time 35 minutes. • No DBQ or Long Essay will focus exclusively on Periods 1 (Before 1607) or Period 9 (after 1980)
Question 1 (DBQ) Writing Suggestions • Make sure you fully answer the task/thesis statement • Support the task/thesis statement with historical evidence (facts) • Use all of the documents • Use outside information • Relate the topic to a time period that is outside the historical era • Write neatly and a well organized essay

Test Suggestions • Be aware of the time for each section • Allow yourself enough time to transfer the MC questions • Read over your essays to make sure you answered everything • Don’t get frustrated if you are struggling at various points on the test • You know the material and are more than capable of passing the exam.
