"A team is a group organized to work together to accomplish a set of objectives that cannot be achieved effectively by individuals.” Lori Jacobs Auburn High School DECA Made possible by funding from the Department of Health and Human Services and Public Health Seattle and King CountyPublic Relations Campaign brought to you by Auburn DECA

  2. VISION & OBJECTIVES Vision: Every child in Auburn will be EMPOWERED to make consistent, healthy lifestyle choices. The entire community will support this culture shift which will create a positive educational, social and economic environment for the future. Objectives: • Educate staff/students in Auburn about the consequences of obesity. • Connect with parents/community to support activities and make changes community-wide. Implement activities to create “Buy-In” and motivate Team Auburn to… “COMMIT TO FIT”. • With support of staff/parents/community launch a student education and incentive plan to empower students to make healthy lifestyle choices. Provide continuing activities. • Evaluate and report a successful campaign which includes activities to sustain the culture of healthy living going forward.

  3. Steps in the Marketing Plan

  4. Obesity Effects • Threats and Opportunities • Some King County neighborhoods foster disease instead of promote health. • Auburn is one of these communities that suffers from the highest rates of obesity in the county. • This leads to higher rates of preventable chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes and even depression or low self-esteem.  • Our opportunities for health start long before we get sick—they start in our communities, especially our schools. • When healthy food is readily available, and when active lifestyles are promoted in our schools, students will eat better and move more. When they do those things, they will live longer, healthier lives • The good news is that we can work together to fix some of the health problems our students face. We are skilled, creative, and committed to fit!
