You can now use VMPlayer to run BioSlax while running MS Windows. This is particularly useful for those who have problem booting BioSlax using LiveCD or directly from the hard drive, due to hardware compatibility issues. • Download VMPlayer and the BioSlax version customized to run on VMPlayer from http://lifesciinformatics.blogspot.com/, under the section “Free Linux OS For Bioinformaticians”. • After downloading the two files, follow the instructions below: • Install the downloaded VMPlayer • Unzip BS5VM to your C drive (e.g. C:\BS5VM ) • Run VMPlayer and open C:\BS5VM\Other Linux 2.6.x kernel.vmx • If internet connection is not working, please change network setting (on the top menu) from “Bridged” to “NAT” and in the "Konsole" type "dhcpcd" and then press the "Enter" button" • These steps should run BioSLAX in the VMPlayer environment.
