The Super Eagles, as they have been familiar, have had an outstanding history in continental and international tournaments, having won the African Cup of Nations and making their way to the Round of 16 at the World Cup on 3 different occasions. With an exciting crop of players counting the likes of Wilfried Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukweuze, and captain Ahmed Musa, Nigerian football is in safe hands and have exciting times to plan for. The Nigeria team is made up of a mingle of foreign and home-based players with vast experience at club level. A special someone incident which would have seen the National senior team coach clashing with the Olympic team coach was turned away, when three players who were formally invited for Nigeria African Nations Cup experience with Ethiopia were in time drafted to the Olympic team.

  2. The Nigerian Olympic team accepted a major boost when all 15 invited professional players reported at their Benin Campground;. Notable among the invited professionals are Lukman Haruna of Monaco F.C of France, Terna Suswam of Vitoria Setubal of Portugal and striker Odion Ighalo who captained the U-20 National team to the 1999 FIFA Junior World Cup held in Egypt.
