  2. Discussion Group Feedback • What can federations really do to affect the performances of elite athletes? • Centralisation ( athletics specific or multi-sports) • Best athletes , best coaches, best medics • Focus on junior to U23 categories • Long term development of athletes

What are the reasons European athletes seem to compete less than successful athletes from other areas? • University and collegiate North American system • Calendar improvement • Athletes and coaches decide together not to compete until peak condition is reached • Counter opinion: competition is part of training • Season of the youngsters ends very early

  4. What can we do to improve the planning of performance development and the provision of services to elite athletes and their coaches? • Conferences should includes scientific and medical staff • Formal and informal education • Coach exchanges and resources sharing • Information sharing and mentoring • Development of inter-nation matches

  5. What are the recommendations you can make for each other and European Athletics? • Journal publication (online) • Translation of existing information • Catalogue of existing knowledge • Better control of citizenship change
