  2. location • This project implements different activities in: • Albania • Bosnia and Herzegovina • Macedonia • Serbia • Montenegro • Kosovo

Mission and Principles • Mission: • Enhancing a regional disability movement that promote equal opportunities and full participation of people with disabilities in South East Europe • Principles: • “ Nothing about us without us” • Disability is a human rights issue • Only a Unified voice on key issues among people with disabilities can achieve significant change • Self Help, Cooperation and Resources Sharing

Target Group • Any organizations of people with disabilities in the locations of the project • Concretely, after one year of implementation, Share See works with 210 organizations through the different activities of the Project. • The project would like to develop its target group up to 250 organizations

Fields of intervention • Campaigning for acknowledgement of Rights of people with disability • Awareness raising among people with disability and within the community • Initiatives to improve the access to education and employment • Improvement and monitoring of the policies and reforms • Organisational development of Disabled People Organisations. • Development of cross disability, cross border and cross issue, networks.

Advocacy fields • Building a unified voice and constitution of an advocacy force (Neum conference…) • Policy making awareness raising (why new law?) • National disability strategy (example of Croatia) and link with PRSP, EU country strategic paper and SAP. • Anti-discrimination acts as a target for all country. At least law drafted everywhere and submitted to parliament and anti discrimination body are created or emphasized. • Accessibility laws are enforced (legal measures give the possibility to enforce the rules) • Social protection law (categorizations evolved) • Employment and education laws and policy improved

Advocacy and lobby the national level “Elite” DPO core partners SHARE SEE Training, support diffusion of information about the reform and advocacy Give information to lobby the authorities with relevant and clear vision of the field Community level DPOs Target of SHARE SEE Advocacy and lobby the local community level A movement?

The level of education of members of DPO is usually weak due to the difficulties of access to education The level of professional skills in NGO management and service providing is still weak Results in 2003: 25 trainings sessions 566 consultancy and counselling sessions Standards curriculum have been designed and are in process to be finalized Training, Counselling and consultancy

The disability movement is still weak also due to the concurrence and struggles existing among DPO DPO are still isolated don’t play their role Results in 2003: 12 regional exchanges and study visits 2 international conferences (one about disability rights and one about accessibility) 1 international seminar about community services 1 national conference in BIH to unify the strategy of lobbying of DPOs Coordination & exchange

Lack of transparency about Rights and entitlements Results: 1 information website online 3 newsletters supported 1 regional research has been conduced, the report is on process and will be published next year 1 situation analysis realized on BIH on disability and Land mines victims An information system

DPO need opportunities to promote change by themselves The call for proposal is an opportunity of access to resources while reforms of public financing mechanisms are still not effective Results in 2003: 120 proposals received for the first Call For Proposal (163 for the second one) 30 micro projects supported in all the region (CFP1) in 2003 Support innovative initiatives

Steering Committee The steering committee is becoming step by step a basic regional network and can be a good and sustainable platform for regional cooperation in the future The steering committee is building partnerships with Key International organizations and networks such as : • European Disability Forum • Mental Disability Advocacy Program • Disable People International / Inclusion Europe • Landmine Survivors Network
