Let’s Break Our Chemical Dependency • Man made chemical insecticides kill beneficial insects as well as pests. • Over use of man made fertilizers destroy beneficial micro and macro soil organisms. • Man made fertilizers cause a build up of salt in the soil. • Constant use of man made chemicals destroys soil tilth. • Man made chemicals can harm us, our children and our pets. • Try using natural fertilizers…blood meal, bone meal, alfalfa meal, animal manures, green sand, wood ashes and the most useful of all, COMPOST> • ADD COMPOST!!! • Compost is free. • Compost feeds the soil. • Compost attracts and supports beneficial soil organisms. • Some of these organisms improve soil texture, aerating the soil and creating channels for water. • Many of these organisms break down nutrients into a form that plants can utilize. • Others enrich the soil with their droppings.{castings} • Some of these organisms assist plants in battling disease.
