  2. What is the Rule of Thirds? • The rule of thirds is used to give depth and organization to the image. • Can be divided horizontally or vertically. • Says that the object should be placed at the intersection of the lines • Used to draw the eye of the observer

  3. Landscape These all show the use of the rule of thirds because: In the picture below the road vanishes in one corner. The picture to the right has the shed on one side of the picture and The picture on bottom right has the marina on a horizontal line.

  4. Cityscape In these pictures if you were to divide them into thirds the building would be in one third ( above), and the line of buildings go from one corner of the picture to the opposite corner( the other two).

  5. Portrait In these pictures the dog is in one third, the girl is in another third and the boy is in one third.

  6. Nature In these pictures the eye is drawn to the back of the creek which is one third, the flowers, and the ducks all of which have their own third.
