CARB Regulation • CARB proposed regulation effective Jan 2008; • Limit idling of trucks to 5 minutes • If the engine can be certified to 30 g/hr NOx at idle, a “Certified Clean Idle” label can be placed on vehicle hood. • All APUs used with 2007 and later engines will need to meet one of the following: • An 85% reduction in PM OR • PM level less than or equal to 0.01 g/bhp-hr OR • Have exhaust plumbed into engine exhaust system upstream of the engine’s PM aftertreatment device • All 2007 trucks required to retro-fitted APU in 2008
