  1. CirculatorySystem

  2. Functions • Transportnutrients, gases and hormones. • Transportthrough red cells. • Supportedbyothersystemssuch as therespiratory and digestivesystem. • Heartdeliversthebloodtoallthebodybypumping.

  3. Vessels • Thebloodistransportedthrough a vesselnetwork. • Threedifferenttypes of vessels:

  4. Arteries • Recivethestrongestpumpingenergyfromtheheart. • They are thick and itswallsexpands. • Regulatethebloodflowfortherest of thevessels.

  5. Veins • Not as thickbutstillresistant. • Thelargestlenth of thevessels. • Conectsalmostthewholebody and theyhavethethickerdiametertolettheflowrun.

  6. Capillars • Thethinner and smallest of thethree. • Itsworkistotransportthebloodalmostdirectlytothecells.

  7. Hemoglobin • Themost importan proteininvolved in theprocess. • In charge of carringtheoxygen in the red cells.

  8. Makes up to 35% of the total of a red cell. • Givesthe red colourtothecell. • Can also be found in somebraincells, alveolar cells, mesangialcells, etc. • A Slightvariation of theproteinprevents as frompoisoning. (Leghtmoglobin)

  9. Discovering • ItwasdiscoveredbyFelix Hoppe-Seyler in 1840. • The words come from Hemo and Globin that makes reference that the protein is from the globin type of protein attached to a Hemo group.

  10. Compossure • Quaternarystructure: • Twoalphahelix and two beta sheetstructureswith a hemogroupforeachstructure. • 4 pyrrolgroups and oneironmoleculeforeachstructure.
