  2. Information on the Raid • The John Brown raid was caused by slavery • The John Brown raid was started in October 16,1958 • It ended when John Brown died. • John Brown was hanged on December 2, 1859.

Information on The Raid • Seven of John Brown’s men got away – Seven were hanged including two black raiders – and nine, including two of John Brown’s sons, were killed in the raid • The Raid was on slavery; which had an effect on the Civil War. The civil War was not only about slavery it was about rights and freedom. So every little raid or battle that happened all built up the Civil War or happened during the Civil War its self.

  4. Background Information on John Brown • John Brown is the person who wanted to help free the slaves. • He had an strong opinion on slavery, therefore he led 21 men out to fight and stop slavery. • He had 5 back men and 16 white men.

  5. John Brown • He was born into an highly religious family. • He was born May 9, 1800. • Birthplace: Torrington, Connecticut • Died: 2 December 1859 • Best Known As: The anti-slavery militant who raided Harper's Ferry in 1859
