We Believe in Father, Son and Holy Spirit Many passages demonstrate the Existence of All Three: Mathew 28:19 John 14:26 – Comforter=Holy Spirit, I=Jesus Matthew 3:16-17 – Spirit of God=Holy Spirit Romans 15:30 – Spirit=Holy Spirit, God=Father 2 Corinthians 13:14 - God=Father Hebrews 2:3-4 – Lord=Jesus, God=Father, Ghost=H.S. Ephesians 2:18 – Him=Jesus Acts 10:38 – Holy Ghost=Holy Spirit Ephesians 4:4-6

  3. The Spirit is called God in Acts 5. Conclusion: The Holy Spirit is fully the Divine Nature.

  4. They say, the Spirit is the Divine Feminine • Spirit = Ruwach in Old Testament: This noun is feminine (Gen 1:2). • In New Testament, God uses word Holy Spirit which is neuter in gender. No! A word’s gender has nothing to do with identity, only with language Some say: “Deity is the Family Unit: Father is the Masculine Spirit is the Feminine Son is the Child. Is this correct?

  5. Language Term: Holy Spirit A word’s gender has nothing to do with identity, only with language • The word is neuter in gender. This is reflective of language, not the identity of the person. • “infant” Luke 1:41-44 is neuter gender • “children” Mark 5:39-41 is neuter gender • “girl” is neuter gender Matt 9:24,25 • Masculine pronoun “He” is used of Hspirit throughout New Testament. • John 4:24 – Father is Spirit (neuter gender) • 1 Cor 15:45 – Jesus is Spirit (neuter gender)

The Spirit is Called “It” Therefore is Not a Person, They Say • The Spirit is a Giant Machine, they say. • Their texts: John 1:32; Rom 8:16,26; 1 Cor12:11; Heb 10:15,17; 1 Pet 1:11 • They say, “Spirit is ‘It’. But, Jesus is never referred to as ‘It’ since He is a Person.” • Wrong – Jesus is referred to as “It” 5 times in Matthew 2:8, 11, 13, 14, 20, 21 • Rom 8:26 – that is some machine? No. That is Some Amazing, Caring, Loving Person!

  7. Conclusion: The Holy Spirit is one of the Divine Persons in the Divine Nature. He is referred to as “He” (Ekeinos, lit., “that One”).

  8. Holy Spirit Is Deity (Theios) • Father and Son are Life • Father and Son are Light • Father and Son are Love. • Father and Son are Eternal. • Spirit is Life, Job 33:4; John 3:5-6 • Spirit is Light, Dan 5:11, 14 • Spirit is Love, Rom 5:3-5 • Spirit is Eternal, Heb 9:14

  9. The Holy Spirit is God • Omniscient (all wise) – 1 Cor 2:9-11 • Omnipotent (all powerful) – Micah 3:8, Acts 1:8 • Omnipresent (present everywhere) – Psalm 139:7-10 • Eternal - Hebrews 9:14 These four characteristics show plainly that the Holy Spirit is God. Acts 5.

  10. Who Does What in the Godhead? • The Father, the Great Planner • 2 Cor 5:18 “All this is from God”. Brilliant! • Planned Your Redemption, Eph 1:3-5 • The Son, the Great Implementer • Our Life-Source became a human, John 1:4, 14 • Suffered, so became our Justification, Rom 3:23-26 • The Holy Spirit Reveals & Explains the Father and Son – The Holy Spirit is the Great Teacher

  11. The Spirit, the Great Revealer and Teacher • He explains and give insights into the Father’s Plan and the Son’s Work. Eph 3:3-5 • He is the Witness of God and Christ. 1 John 5:6-11 • The Witness (the Spirit) is within us. • This Witness in us is called sharing or fellowship of the Spirit. 2 Cor 13:14 Will you consider your Divine Teacher? Will you let Him advise & mentor you?

  12. How the Spirit Talks to You • The Bible is Authored by the Holy Spirit. 2 Tim 3:16, 17. The Spirit speaks through your Bible. • Since the whole Bible comes by One Spirit, then there is unity in Revelation. • Since the same Spirit is witness within each of us, there is unity among Brethren.

  14. When the Spirit is Your Teacher • Philippians 2:1,2 “So, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”

  15. When the Spirit is Your Teacher • Philippians 1:27 “ . . . that you are standing firm in one Spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel . . .”
