What’s it about? • Plot • The story of a movie is called the plot. • A: I didn’t like that movie very much. I couldn’t follow the plot at all. • B: Really? I thought it was just a simple boy meets girl story. • A: Maybe. I guess I’m just not into chick flicks. Boy meets girl: Classic love story, used in many movies Chick flick: “Girls” movie, usually romantic. Also called “Date movie.”
Everybody’s seen it • Blockbuster: • Big, expensive movie. Usually have a lot of hype leading up to release. • A: I don’t know why you only go see the big blockbusters. • B: Because they’re more fun than your artsy movies. Artsy: Small, little known film. Often played at film festivals instead of theaters.
Haven’t we seen this before? • Sequel – Movie continuing story from before. • Prequel – Telling a story from a time earlier than the first movie. • Trilogy - Three movies telling one story
