Now the genes are to be found in which the two organisms are different based on these measurements.

W is the measurement for the wild type
M is the measurement for the mutant
Histograms show that the distribution of the measurements can be approximated with a Gaussian distribution.
If the abundance of DNA from both genes are equal the measurements follow a normal distribution with an expected value of 0.
