  1. The Dambusters Raid16 May 1943 In World War Two, to destroy factories in Germany, three dams were attacked by The Royal Air Force. The raid was led by Squadron Leader Guy Gibson The attack was made using a bouncing bomb, invented by a man called Barnes Wallis The Squadron became famous and was known as617 Squadron

  2. The Planes They used a bomber called a LANCASTER It carried 7 men

  3. The Target The target was three dams, that gave power to the factories They attacked at night and waited for a full moon

  4. The attack They used spotlights to make sure they were the right height off the water

  5. After the attack Eight Lancasters were shot down and 53 aircrew killed 1300 people living below the dams were killed

  6. Guy Gibsons award Guy Gibson was awarded Englands highest medal for bravery It is called the Victoria Cross. In Sep 1944 his plane crashed after a bombing raid and Gibson died
