  8. Gutta Design • Trace your design onto the silk using a pencil. • Stretch the silk onto the frame. • draw the design with gutta. Check that the gutta has penetrated thoroughly and that there are no breaks or gaps.

Stretching Silk • 1 I suggest that you cover the frame with masking tape as this can be removed if it is stained at the end of the project, and renewed for the next piece of work. 2 Place the silk over the frame and begin pinning along one side. Place a pin every 3-4 cm, and try to keep the grain of the fabric parallel to the sides. 3 Continue pinning along the next side and then complete the remaining sides. Try not to have the pins opposite each other, stagger them. Pinning the silk to the frame
