Viking Weapons: Swords, Axes, and Shields in Raiding and Trading

The Viking's main weapon was the broad sword, characterized by heavy hilts and functional design. Contrary to popular depictions, their sword covers were made of plain leather without any fur. Swords held great value as family heirlooms, often passed down from father to son. Vikings also utilized battle axes, lances, pikes, and bows in warfare. Shields played a crucial role in their defensive strategies. This overview highlights the significance and diversity of weapons used by the Vikings during their raids and trading endeavors.
