This presentation explores whether materialism has emerged as the new "religion" for adolescents in Australian society. By examining the definitions of religion, the rise of consumer culture, and the diminishing role of modern Christianity, the research highlights the intersection of micro and macro social influences. Key concepts include societal changes over decades, individual beliefs, and cultural shifts. Through secondary and primary research, including interviews and surveys with adolescents, the presentation discusses how contemporary values are shaped by consumerism and the implications for faith and identity.
