What does it mean to be divisible?
  • Divisible 

A whole number is divisible by another number if the remainder is 0 when the first number is divided by the second.

  • A whole number is divisible by 2:
    • if the ones digit is divisible by 2
        • A whole number is EVEN if it is divisible by 2 (even #s: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
        • Examples: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, …

    • if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3
        • Example: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, …

Check for 3: 1 + 2 + 6 = 9 which is divisible by 3

So, YES it is divisible by 6 because it is divisible by both 2 AND 3!
