MEET THE SPEAKERS SPEAKERS Plenary Session Dr.LailaAljassmi - Founder and CEO, Health Beyond Borders Laila is the CEO of Health Beyond Borders, a bespoke Dubai based healthcare advisory firm focused on the following services; Healthcare Strategy and Research, Health Investment Facilitation, Healthcare Business Development in UAE, Medical Tourism Consulting and Facilitation. Prior to this, Laila was the CEO of Health Policy and the Strategy Sector at Dubai Health Authority (DHA). She was responsible for the development of the policy and legislation for the health system in the Emirate of Dubai driven from Dubai Strategic Plan (DSP). She has extensive knowledge of the healthcare systems, health reforms, strategic direction, planning and delivery of healthcare services. Laila also lead the Dubai medical tourism initiative in 2012. Laila is a graduate of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Executive leadership program. She has been awarded Feigenbaum Excellence Leadership Award for Women's leaders and has also been awarded one of the top 50 "GCC Women leaders" by World CSR Day & World Sustainability.

9. SPEAKERS Dr Dilshaad Ali - Group CEO, Avivo Group Dr Dilshaad Ali is an accomplished Healthcare Executive with profound insight and experience. An innovative and engaging leader with proven track and results in all aspects of hospital management and healthcare investment strategies. He has built sustained value ecosystems across diverse financial and operating models around the world. Through his experience and acumen in creating differentiated USPs, Dilshaad has led the healthcare industry as a key opinion leader in many different aspects of the business. Dr Dilshaad helms Dubai based AVIVO Group which is an integrated healthcare platform spanning the Middle East with 47 assets and currently expanding to ASEAN. SPEAKERS MsShereneAzli - CEO, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) ShereneAzli took office as the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Health- care Travel Council (MHTC) or better known as Malaysia Healthcare in year 2015. Within her short stint with MHTC, an agency under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, Sherene facilitated to raise Malaysia’s silhouette as the “preferred destination for world-class healthcare services”. Sherene’s fortitude to see Malaysia as the leading global healthcare destination is becoming a reality as the country was awarded as the “Destination of the Year” in 2015, 2016 and 2017, with a highly commendable mention in 2018, by International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ). In fulfilling her aspiration in knowledge sharing and talent development, Sherene has also established herself as an esteemed speaker and trainer in more than 15 countries globally (UK, USA, India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Russia, Japan, Egypt, Spain, Thailand, Romania, Turkey, Oman, Dubai, etc.) at numerous international conferences and workshops in the areas of leadership, strategy, marketing and business management with special focus in healthcare travel and telecommunications. Sherene's achievements and contributions earned her international recognition as one of the 50 “Outstanding Women in Healthcare” at the World Health and Wellness Congress 2017. She is also a recipient of the “30 Women Achievers and Leaders of Malaysia” at the Golden Globe Tigers Award 2017 and most recently, in 2018, she was honoured with the award “Leadership in Promoting Malaysia as Medical Tourism Destination” at the Icons of Healthcare Award 2018. 11. SPEAKERS Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas - President, APHM. Chairman Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas, a medical doctor, has vast experience in hospital management, having served in various capacities at the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care, including as the Executive Director of their Flagship Hospital, Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) for 9 years from 1998 till 2006. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDHC) Group, in addition to serving as the Group Medical Advisor of its six hospitals in Malaysia and Indonesia and recently a Day Surgery Centre in Hong Kong. RSDHC is a leading tertiary care medical group in the region, reputed for its quality medical care and service excellence. Dr Jacob Thomas is currently a past President of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) after having held the post of President from 2008 till 2018. He was recently appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia as the Champion (Head) of the Private Healthcare Productivity Nexus under the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), which seeks to improve productivity of the private healthcare sector in Malaysia. This also includes the must awaited enhanced Public Private Partnership. He serves as a Councilor of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), which is an accredited member of ISQua. He is, since 2014, a Board Member of the Joint Commission International (JCI) based in Chicago. Since January 2019, he has been appointed as the Vice Chair of this Board. Dr Thomas today works closely with Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and various Government agencies and NGOs to promote Malaysian Healthcare both locally and internationally. Dr Jacob Thomas is today a much sort after speaker at many conferences and seminars both locally and Internationally. He also sits on the Editorial Board of many Healthcare Magazines and assists as an advisor and judge for regional Healthcare Conferences and Awards. Plenary Session

SPEAKERS Ms Claudia Mika - Founder and CEO, Temos International Ms Claudia Mika is the founder and CEO of Temos International GmbH, a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center DLR, a German governmental research organization. Since 2004 she has been working on the Temos certification systems, assessing hospitals, rehabilitation centers, reproductive care centers, and dental clinics worldwide according to the Temos quality criteria for international patient management that were developed together with leading travel health insurances and assistance companies. Claudia has been working with more than 100 hospitals and medical facilities worldwide from Brazil to the Philippines. Dr. Mika has been regularly invited to international Medical Tourism Conferences and advises different associations and governmental institutions regarding medical tourism issues. She developed the guideline “International Patients Department Processes” for the Turkish Ministry of Health. In 2011, Dr. Mika received the “High Potential Company Award 2011” for Temos, funded by the European Union. Since 2013 Dr. Mika has been appointed to be one of the judges for the IMTJ Medical Travel Awards, an independent and objective set of awards for the medical travel and tourism industry. Since January 2014 she is the Vice Chairwoman of the Diplomatic Council Healthcare Forum. In 2017 Dr. Mika was awarded the Dr. Sanjiv Malik Lifetime Award for her significant contribution to the development of medical travel and medical tourism over many years. For the 2018 Dubai Health Tourism Forum, she was appointed as a member of the Scientific Board by Dubai Health Authorities (DHA). SPEAKERS Dr Paul Barach - International Healthcare Consultant & Clinical Scientist Paul is a Clinical Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and is a practicing double board-certified physician-scientist in Anesthesiology and Critical care, from the Massachusetts General Hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He is a Lecturer at Thomas Jefferson College of Population Health. Paul has published extensively (more than 200 refereed contributions, and 300 total publications, 5 books) about organizational, social, human factors, and team approaches to care. He has presented at or chaired international and national conferences, workshops, symposia and meetings on more than 500 occasions, including over 60 keynote addresses. He is a featured speaker at international conferences on a range of topics related to hospital design, safety, quality, digital care, governance, accountability and performance of public services. He served as Editor of the British Medical Journal Quality and Safety and is Associate Editor of Pediatric Cardiology. Paul has advised and consulted widely for not for profit and for profit hospitals and medical education and healthcare systems including to the governments/National agencies of Denmark, Norway, Canada, Australia, Bahamas, Oman, Singapore, Japan and Jordan. He is deeply committed to translating research into strategies for health protection and disease prevention and reducing burden of NCD's working in GCC, Asia and Africa. Plenary Session
