  1. Why ALL Students Should be Included What you Need to Know as a Parent By Jordan Casey Megan Orth

  2. Every Child Is Entitle to LRE What is LRE? • A Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) is entitled to each student educated in a public school in our country according to Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2000. • "The least restrictive environment is the one that, to the greatest extent possible, satisfactorily educates disabled children together with children who are not disabled, in the same school the disabled child would attend if the child were not disabled." –Wrightslaw.com

  3. Every Child is Entitled to Accommodations Under the Americans with Disabilities Act every child is entitled to be educated without discrimination. This means that the curriculum must be adapted to the specific needs of all learners to help them achieve to their highest potential.

  4. What Does This Mean for YOU? Any child, disabled or not, deserves to go to their local public school and interact with their grade-level peers and learn alongside them. This is called Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and is mandated by Public Law 94-142. Your children are going to be educated alongside students with disabilities, this is called inclusion.

  5. Why This Helps YOUR Child Our world is not a sterile place that is made up of only one kind of person. It is important that children at a young age learn to accept and appreciate those that are different from them. Learners do not just learn from lessons but from those that they learn with. Inclusion will help all students to become more well rounded members of society and more effective learners.
