Un Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) The lead platform for wide-ranging international efforts Five priorities • stop the outbreak • provide treatment • provide essential services • preserve stability • prevent outbreaks in non-affected countries. The mission is expected to also emphasize community outreach, training and education especially among local leaders, including traditional and religious leaders.

  2. UNMEER Pillar to Provide essential services (draft) • Food (security) • WASH • Health • Early Recovery • Budgetary planning support

  3. Liberia • Food Security cluster established co-led FAO/WFP • Government has establish a central command centre for all cluster to be housed • Guinea and Sierra Leone • No formal clusters establish to date. However, food security sector coordination on-going co-led by FAO/WFP

  4. Cluster approach • strengthen system-wide preparedness and technical capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies • provide clear leadership and accountability in the main areas of humanitarian response. Specifically at country level to: • strengthen partnerships, and the predictability and accountability of international humanitarian action, by improving prioritization and clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of humanitarian organizations.
