Clay Turtle Whistles During the first session we will learn how to construct a hollow half-sphere, add the legs, head and tail, and apply the added and/or carved design. We will use multiple clay forming techniques. During the second session we will apply the glaze colors and put glass bits in the top shell depressions to create a melted crystal pool on the turtle. Kobe will add the holes for the whistle mechanism for multiple tones. I have done this workshop with 2nd graders on up to adults and it is always a favorite as the turtles take on the personalities of the makers. I find that the turtle is one animal that many people are intrigued by. I presently teach at an arts magnate elementary-middle school in Apple Valley and do educational workshops in the Midwest and the East Coast during the summer. Bill Kobe
