About TransAD…

  • TransAD (Centre for Regulation of Transport by
  • Hire Cars), established pursuant to Law no. (19) of 2006
  • issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
  • Mandated by Law # (19)
    • Regulate Public & Private Hire Cars (Taxi & Limousines)
    • Compensation Fund for Owners with monthly payouts
  • Objective
  • To ensure the provision of Taxi and Limousine service within the emirate and also to ensure that a safe, secure and efficient Taxi fleet is available for the people of Abu Dhabi.

Restructuring of the taxi sector

TransAD – Fund

  • Transition Plan
  • Decided to phase out all 8496 old taxis
  • in 5 Years ( 2007 till 2012 )
  • - “Taxi Permit” owner compensation
  • - 8496 old taxis will be replaced with new taxis.

Compensation to the Individual Nationals (Dhs.1000/- per month)

Monthly Levy – Dhs.1250 per month (7147 new Taxis)

Regulations

- Study has been conducted and identified the number of taxis required in the

Emirate of Abu Dhabi as 7147 Taxis.

- 7 Franchisees each with 1021 Taxis
