  4. Parties Beliefs • Party was democratic socialist and agrarian socialist • Most of support came from rural peasantry • Peasants liked the policy of land socialization as opposed to the Bolshevik programme of Land nationalization

  5. Romanov Dynasty • Only autocracy left in Europe • Czar Nicholas was very unpopular with Russian people. • Entire Romanov family executed by Bolsheviks

  6. Terrorism as a Policy • Influenced by the tactics of “Peoples Will” • PSR had a terrorist wing “The Social Revolutionary Combat Organization” was later named the “Terrorist Brigade”. • Led and founded by GrigoryGershuni

  8. Tactics of Social Revolutionaries • Assassinations were key tactics • Assassination of two minister of the interior • Fanny Kaplan shot and wounded Lenin. • Killed Governor General of Moscow

  9. A Divide in Beliefs • The Party Split in 1917 over World War I and redistribution of land. • Party of Socialist Revolutionaries had to many offshoots and beliefs • Left SR’s took up with the Bolsheviks under Lenin • Right SRs joined in with the Mensheviks under Julius Martov
