  3. Camping Kings 2012 La Fosca Travel by Coach Barcelona

  4. We have our own section here on the international Camping Kings site; it is fully equipped with excellent facilities including our own catering and dining facilities. La Fosca is ideally situated for a variety of cultural excursion options, including Barcelona and Gerona. The centre is 17 hours overnight travel from Calais. It is beautifully set amongst rocky coves sandy shores. The site features an Olympic size pool, indoor bar, supermarket, disco and games area.

Staff coach roles • Staff to wear yellow jackets to disembark from coach. • Two members of staff must leave coach first and assess any risk and safe route to services . • Pupils must be escorted across car parks from coach and return to coach as a group. • Pupils and staff to wear seat belts at all times.

  6. Camping Kings 2012 Accommodation & On-site Facilities • The site is situated on the edge of the beach where the activities are done. Beach access is locked after activities. • The site also has an outside disco area, open side dining area and modern kitchen (canteen), modern toilet/shower blocks, sick bay and a small shop

  7. Students: Modern tents equipped with solid frame beds, sleep 4. Teachers: Large, 4-berth chalet style tents with hot drink facilities and fridge.

La Fosca (Camping Kings) PGL Partner Centre: On the shores of the Costa Brava, PGL has 4 tented villages and a cabin village in a shady and well-established section of this international campsite, Camping Kings. Large on-site swimming pool PGL's own catering and dining facilities Modern toilet and shower facilities Site supermarket Large restaurant with lively bar and disco Groups of 42 or more full paying guests have exclusive use of a village.  Each village has its own central meeting area with open space and picnic benches for relaxing.

Camping Kings 2012 Accommodation & On-site Facilities • Night Security • PGL Staff patrol the site at night • Pupils will need to leave the tent to use the toilet (paths are well lit) • Tuck Shop • The site has a tuck shop selling sweets, drinks & souvenirs, HOWEVER PUPILS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO ONE SWEET & ONE FIZZY DRINK PER DAY !! Ow—Watch where you put that lolly stick !!

  10. Our day excursion may be a trip to Nou Camp . This is an extra cost around of approx 17 euros which will have to be met by pupils/parents Explore Barcelona Football Stadium and follow the footsteps of world-class stars. Venture into the dressing rooms and down the famous tunnel; enjoy access to off-limits areas and sit on benches warmed by some of the world's best players. Then pass through the press conference rooms and the Presidential Honour Box. Admission to the club's museum is included in this visit. Wander at your leisure and marvel at paintings, sculptures, and exhibitions of sporting trophies from basketball to handball to hockey. And some time accompanied by a member of staff in Las Ramblas in Barcelona It is approximately 1.2 kilometres long with Port Vell (near the cruise port terminal) at the Southern most end and Placa Catalunya at the northern most end. If you have your back to Port Vell and you are looking up towards Catalunya along the Ramblas on your left hand side is the Raval area and on your right-hand side is the Barri Gotic (or Gothic Quarter).

Camping Kings 2012 What you need to take with you Kit List Luggage is limited to one large piece of luggage per person and one item of hand luggage for carrying on the journey • Small bag for use as a day bag • Sleeping bag (sleeping bag, pillow, wash bag, hand towel, & food for the journey to be taken on the bus) • Pillow & Pillow Case • Wash bag and at least 2 beach towels & 1 hand towel • Decent body covering night clothes • Enough changes of underwear that your friends do not stop speaking to you.

Camping Kings 2012 What you need to take with you Kit List - continued • Casual wear for travel & evenings .including a fleece • Watersports kit - Shorts, swimming costume, long sleeved shirt, sun hat, canvas or plastic shoes for wading etc • Shorts • At least two pairs of long(ish) trousers (1 for activity; 1 for evening wear) - Jeans are impactical as they provide no warmth when wet & are difficult to dry) • Several T-Shirts (Not fifteen !!!!) • Socks (plenty dark coloured & preferably match to start with) • At least 2 pairs of trainers (1 for activities, 1 for evening)

Camping Kings 2012 What you need to take with you Kit List - continued • Waterproof jacket • Labelled strong plastic bags for wet & spare clothes • Water Bottle for drinks (named) • Small torch & spare batteries for night time • Sun tan lotion (FACTOR 30 MINIMUM) • Lip Salve or Vaseline / Petroleum jelly (boys included) • Zofirax (if you are a cold sore sufferer • Toiletries - Enough for 10 days NOT 10 weeks ALL CLOTHING SHOULD BE MARKED WITH YOUR NAME & GUHS

Camping Kings 2012 Your Survival Guide MONEY • Limit of £100 in Euros and £10 Sterling • SECURITY - Pupil and Parent should decide beforehand whether staff carry and manage their money OR if they will carry it themselves • Staff will perform a personal banking service daily (usually in evenings) • If staff are to manage pupils spending money, money should be paid into their school account by Monday 30th APRIL

Camping Kings 2012 Your Survival Guide VALUABLES • Keep cash secreted about your persons when out & about • Cash in the tent should be in a safe place - do not tell anyone your safe place. • Electrical items e.g. Hair straightners, driers, iPods etc - REMEMBER there is no electricity in your tent (only toilet blocks) • Personal Camera may need extra batteries.

  19. Camping Kings 2012 Your Survival Guide COMMUNICATIONS • Using mobile phones in Spain might be very expensive • Site may have call boxes on site. Telephone card is approx. £10 • PARENTS - Please make sure your child knows whether you expect them to phone home (or not)

Camping Kings2012 • First meal on-site will be Sunday morning at 10:00am • Please pack enough food to last the journey • Fizzy juice should NOT be consumed on the bus or at service stations • School hope to supply some water & fruit for the journey FOOD -Return Journey • Last meal on-site will be Saturday afternoon • Plan to picnic in Spain • Meal at British service station (keep some £ sterling !!!!) Camping Kings 2012 Highland Council's 'Youth Participation Statement' Parents and young participants should be aware that outdoor activities potentially pose a danger of personal injury or death. Parents, and participants taking part in these and other similar activities, should be aware of, and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement. The above, though, must be seen in context, major accidents whilst engaged in an adventurous activity are relatively few and far between. All precautions have been taken to minimise risks.”

  23. Camping Kings 2012 Why we go • Adventurous activities are physically and mentally demanding as well as incredibly fulfilling. They can also lead to lifelong participation. • This helps individuals keep fit throughout their lives and provides opportunities for long-term friendships to develop. • People of all ages and abilities, from all backgrounds, cultures, races, orientations and religions can enjoy these activities. • Disabilities should not be seen as barriers to participation. Additionally, those keen to learn often acquire a host of new life skills and quickly develop a sense of personal responsibility that can stand them in good stead throughout their lives. • These benefits need to be balanced against the risks involved.

Camping Kings 2012 Pupil & Parent Agreement states : • be punctual at all times, especially at rendezvous points. • dress appropriately at all times during the school visit • observe the advice given about health and safety at all times • keep working, training, washing and sleeping areas clean and tidy (hang up all wet clothing) • maintain my personal hygiene • make no attempt to purchase or consume alcohol • make no attempt to purchase or use tobacco nor any other drug or solvent • not be involved in any form of violent, racist or criminal behaviour not use bad language

Camping Kings 2012 Pupil & Parent Agreement states : continued • not use bad language • keep in a group of at least three or more at all times • not wander off alone or become deliberately separated from the group at any time • respect the laws, custom and culture of the areas visited • take part in all related activities during the visit • eat regular meals, especially healthy foods as much as possible • respect individual differences and opinions at all times • inform staff of any concerns I may have for the health & safety of myself & other group members • wear a seat belt at all times whilst travelling on the coaches • enjoy myself !

  27. Pupil & Parent Agreement states : continued Camping Kings 2012 • I understand • That there must be no sexual relationships during the school visit. • That staff taking are acting ‘in loco parentis’ and that I will follow all instructions, advice and house rules at all times

Camping Kings 2012 Pupil & Parent Agreement states : continued • Parents • I / we understand that the above agreement must be adhered to during the school visit and is essential for the benefit of the smooth running and enjoyment of the visit. • I / we understand that should there be a serious breach of the above agreement, then any necessary and resulting disciplinary action, including the repatriation of my son / daughter will be my / our responsibility, including the responsibility for any additional costs arising from the cost of transport home. • I / we understand any serious breach of discipline may also include a period of exclusion from school for my son/daughter on their return to Glen Urquhart.

Camping Kings 2012 The rules for GROUNDING are : • Verbal warning that if the situation occurs again it will result in grounding • If the situation arises then the pupil must be taken to the member of staff on duty who should be relieved of the duty they are on. Staff group members must all be informed of the grounding and staff being withdrawn • Grounding may be back at the tents if sick bay is required or on the beach, beside/next member of staff or on washing duty • Grounding may cover 1 ,2 or 3 sessions but must be recorded in the grounding book with reasons for grounding

  36. Camping Kings 2012 Emergency Contact Mrs Anne Macauley/ Ross Waldie are the emergency link contacts in Drumnadrochit should there be any reason to contact your child. (See booklet for a 24/7 contact number). Please do not telephone the centre. Be assured, we will contact you immediately (or as soon as possible) if there is any problem, delay or emergency.
