  2. False Doctrines John 3:16 Refutes: • Atheism, because it begins with God. • Agnosticism, because it reveals God. • Calvinism, because of God’s provision to all who believe, not just an arbitrary select number. • Unitarianism, because it proves the deity of Jesus. • Pentecostalism, because it proves that God and Jesus are distinct and separate persons sharing the same divine nature. 3

  3. The Universal Love Of God • God’s love is part of His nature and qualities of His Godhood - 1 Jn 4:8 • The Greek word, kosmos, became associated with humanity itself - Jn 3:16, 19; 1:9 • God’s love was directed towards all of mankind. Terms such as “the world” and “whoever” shows that the love of God is universal in nature. 4

  4. 28 Therefore they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?’ 29 Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.’ John 6:28-45, NASB • Belief in the Son of God is required - v 29 5

  5. Belief in the Son of God is required - v 29 • Believers are the ones given to Christ - v 37 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. John 6:28-45, NASB 6

  6. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. John 6:28-45, NASB • Belief in the Son of God is required - v 29 • Believers are the ones given to Christ - v 37 • The Father draws believers to Christ - v 44 • The drawing of the Father comes from teaching, hearing and learning - v 45 7

  7. 25 Jesus answered them, ‘I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. 26 But you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I will give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. John 10:25-29, NASB • These Jews did not believe in Christ - v 25 • Unbelievers are not of the sheep - v 26 • The sheep hear and follow - vv 27,28; Jn 6:45 • The Father has given the sheep to Christ - v 29 8

  8. • God desires that all men be saved - 1 Tim 2:4; 2 Pt 3:9 9

  9. The Unlimited Cost Of Love • God gave His only begotten Son. The title, “only begotten Son,” proves His deity - Jn 1:1-3,14 • The term “gave” means to give to someone for their benefit. • Christ died while we were yet sinners, undeserving of grace, undeserving of love, and undeserving of mercy - Rom 5:8 • Jesus was the atoning sacrifice for our sins - 1 Jn 2:1-2; 4:9-10; Rom 3:24-25 10

  10. The Ultimate Reward In The Son • The penalty of sin is to perish, or be in a state of spiritual separation from God for all eternity. • However, eternal life may be found in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. • Eternal life is conditioned upon our faith in Christ • Unbelief is disobedience - Jn 3:36; Mk 16:16 • Belief is obedience - Mk 16:16 11
