You have a lot to say about a lot of things. Your blog becomes a platform to share your thinking. Resolve to be thyself; and know that he who finds himself, loses his misery. ~Matthew Arnold, 1852
Learning Targets • I can create a digital writing space (blog) where I will publish my writing; • I can post to my blog and embed a picture or video; • I can learn about my personality and learning styles and write and publish an About Me page on my blog.
First, let’s create a blog • Go to www.edublogs.org • Go to FREE and STUDENT • If your username is NOT available, add 2016 to the end of it, i.e., joeybrown2016
Before we go on… • Record your blog address, username, and password • On a note card write: • Your name • Your blog address • Your username • Your password TURN THIS IN TO ME TODAY!
Give your blog a title • IDEAS: • Think about what image you want to present to the world • What are your interests? Hobbies? Goals? • BE CREATIVE! (and school appropriate) “English blog” is boring • BE SURE TO SPELL CORRECTLY! Submit = Creation should be complete!
Log in to your Dashboard • Everything you do to the appearance • Everything you write or upload • Everything you want to publish YOU DO IN YOUR DASHBOARD
Notice the left side; everything you need to change, create, write is on the LEFT.
Personalize: Go to Appearance Themes. Choose a look you like (you can change it at any time)
You have a title, now let’s go give your blog a tagline(Insight about yourself) • Go to Settings Tagline
Now, let’s do Links • So you can navigate easily from your blog to mine, and • So you can read and leave comments on your friends’ blogs • Go to your Dashboard Links Add new • Add me: http://mrsjohnsonchs.edublogs.org
You can delete all the generic links except Help & Support (you might need this)
Now, a big one-- let’s add a post • A post is what you write and publish on the main page of your blog. • Later, when I say, “Post that writing to your blog” this is what you’ll do… • In you Dashboard, go to Posts Add new
