  2. Format • Meant for 1st/2nd graders • 16 bars • Monophonic • Four /four time • Starts on C • Last note is a whole note on C • Can use any notes and rests

  3. Content • The point is to be able to make a great melody and connect it with lyrics. • There should be a solid theme that is no less than 4 bars (remember it will repeat itself).

Lyrics to the nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow;And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go.It followed her to school one day, which was against the rule;It made the children laugh and play, to see a lamb at school.And so the teacher turned it out, but still it lingered near,And waited patiently about till Mary did appear."Why does the lamb love Mary so?" the eager children cry;"Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know" the teacher did reply.

  6. Grading • In order to get an A you need to have the following: • 16 + measures; Starts and Ends on C; monophonic, obvious theme that is no less than 4 bars and no more than 8, content is geared for 1st and 2nd grade • If missing or vague on anything of those will result in a lower grade.
