  1. What was the Progressive Era?

  2. The Progressive Era was a period of widespread reform in the U.S. from the 1890s to the 1920s.

  3. The reforms that occurred during this period were intended to promote economic and political change through government intervention. President Theodore Roosevelt (1901–1909) President Woodrow Wilson (1913–1921)

  4. The goal of the Progressive Era was to correct the problems caused by industrialization.  Hull House in Chicago, IL; founded by Jane Addams in 1889 

  5. During the Progressive Era, writers called muckrakers published articles and novels to make Americans aware of problems in society.

  6. Muckrakers popularized the idea that problems in government and industry needed to be corrected.

  7. Muckrakers included:
