  2. Across the Hudson Valley region and amid 2.4 million people that reside in its seven counties,

  3. Perinatal Service Providers address, protect and strengthen maternal, paternal and infant/child health in the region.

  4. But… for marginalized families in at-risk communities,

  5. it is challenging for Perinatal Service Providers to • Improve birth outcomes • Increase use of breastfeeding • Or decrease elective use of C-sections before week 39

  6. This is especially true when challenged by the ever-present factors of

  7. Poverty • Pervasive community crime • Domestic Violence • Child abuse and neglect • Minimal availability of licensed child care • Limited transportation to access care Marginalization suffocates the work of Perinatal Service Providers. But do not despair…..
