Focus & PresentationVice President of IT Job Posting (2) • Vice President-IT, Technology Operations & Infrastructure (VP-IT) • DescriptionCompany Our client is an upper-Midwest based life insurance and financial services company. Position/Responsibilities The Vice President-IT, Technology Operations & Infrastructure (VP-IT) will report directly to Chief Information Officer will serve as leader and champion for IT infrastructure that will provide execution and delivery leadership connecting vision, strategy and implementation across the enterprise. He/she will lead, direct, and challenge direct reports and team leaders and enable the business strategy by simplifying the existing infrastructure and leveraging newer technologies. He/she will build executive relationships and maintain high customer satisfaction, and retain overall accountability for delivery of infrastructure projects and services. The VP-IT will bridge gaps between legacy network and evolving technology platforms and systems software through developing creative, diverse and emerging solutions. The VP-IT will manage a team of 30+ IT professionals including four direct reports over the technical infrastructure, infrastructure support services, operational support services and disaster recovery groups. He/she will manage an IT operating and capital budget for projects approximating $20 million annually and there will be some travel within the United States. The VP-IT will provide vision and guidance regarding delivery of IT infrastructure including hardware/software asset management and associated contracts, system availability and performance. This will include, but not be limited to responsibility for Data Center and mainframe operations, servers, middleware integration support, LAN/WAN, telecom, network services, and security operations, desktop and help desk services, end user computing support, and service level management. Finally the VP-IT will lead technology expert services, infrastructure installation and project management, including, systems implementation, and capacity/equipment provisioning. Primary responsibilities ? Champion, uphold, and improve internal IT policy and procedure standards in respect to the enterprise infrastructure. Establish means and methods for verification of adherence to policy and procedure standards. ? Create the infrastructure strategy leveraging current systems and incorporating emerging technology platforms to support web services (.NET/J2EE), grid computing, wireless, PDAs, and Portal. ? Manage and develop near term and multi-year strategies for data centers, systems operations, DR, Security, Help Desk, telecom and IT asset management. Directly manage teams involved to support these areas. ? Manage and leverage third party service providers and evaluate build versus buy opportunities. Qualifications We seek a strong and proven high energy expert-knowledge technology leader who has a track record of success leading complex enterprise technology infrastructure, and IT-operations. High availability and real time environment experience in financial services, insurance, retail or other related service environments is preferred. The VP-IT with have a minimum of 10-15 or more years, of related experience at a professional level with 7 or more years of progressive IT solutions leadership experience in roles of increasing responsibility. A demonstrated track record of leadership in IT operations, management of data centers, enterprise infrastructure, mainframe and distributed computing (both legacy and emerging technology), desktop and help desk support, security and LAN/WAN. A proven track record in providing a clear strategy, vision and direction to subordinates or contractors with differing objectives or disciplines is required. Naturally, we expect the successful candidate will possess an undergraduate level degree in computer science or related technical discipline, with an advanced degree as a decided plus.
