This project aims to compare and contrast four ecosystem-wide studies of marine biodiversity, specifically focusing on the motivations, goals, approaches, achievements, and lessons learned from the Gulf of Maine Area Census, Baltic HMAP, GBR Seabed Biodiversity Project, and Gulf of Mexico Biodiversity Project. The objective is to recommend how insights from these studies can enhance coastal and marine decision-making processes. Key meetings are planned across various locations in North America to facilitate discussion and revisions, with a manuscript submission targeted for December 2009.
