Sprint Nextel i580 – How to Push to Talk • Press the Contacts Button • Scroll to the contact or group you want to reach • Push the Push to Talk button [on the left side of the phone] • As soon as you hear the CHIRP the person has been notified • Push and hold the button as you speak. • Please note that you have to wait for the CHIRP to finish before speaking or your message will not be heard in it’s entirety. • Release when you are ready for a reply Contacts Button Push To Talk Button Scroll Down Button

Sprint Nextel i580 –The MOST RECENT CALL LOG • With the Phone CLOSED • Press the Contacts Button on the top of the phone (looks like a square or stop symbol) • Scroll to the contact or group you want to reach • Push the Push to Talk button [on the left side of the phone] • As soon as you hear the CHIRP the person has been notified • Push and hold the button as you speak. • Please note that you have to wait for the CHIRP to finish before speaking or your message will not be heard in it’s entirety. • Release when you are ready for a reply Contacts Button Scroll Up or Down Button Push to Talk Button

Sprint Nextel i580 –The MOST RECENT CALL LOG • With the Phone OPEN • Press the “down” side of the circle on the keypad • Scroll to the contact or group you want to reach • Push the Push to Talk button [on the left side of the phone] • As soon as you hear the CHIRP the person has been notified • Push and hold the button as you speak. • Please note that you have to wait for the CHIRP to finish before speaking or your message will not be heard in it’s entirety. • Release when you are ready for a reply DOWN Arrow Push to Talk Button

Sprint Nextel i580 – External Speaker Button Top View • Located on the TOP of the Phone • Pressing the External Speaker Button will turn the external speaker ON/OFF • With the external speaker OFF, STAT/Code Blue calls cannot be heard • Make sure the external speaker is on by pressing the external speaker button and observing the display on the front of the phone. • Press the External Speaker Button until “Speaker On” appears in the display. Sprint Nextel i580 – Answering a Direct Connect STAT/Code Blue Call • To answer a Direct Connect call for STAT/Code Blue: • Wait for the CHIRP after LifeFlight stops talking • Push the Direct Connect Button, wait for the CHIRP, then say “MICU Resident is Responding to [ Location ] Direct ConnectButton

Sprint Nextel i580 – Arriving at the Call Location • Once you arrive at the location of the call: • Push “Recent Calls” button (button on the top of the phone as illustrated) • Scroll to “Code Team” (if not already showing in the display) • Push the Direct Connect button (large button on left side) • Wait for the chirp, then say “MICU Resident on Scene” Recent Calls Button Scroll Up or Down Button Direct ConnectButton

Sprint Nextel i580 – After Completing a Call • After Completing a Call: • Push “Recent Calls” button (button on the top of the phone as illustrated) • Scroll to LifeFlight (if not already showing in the display) • Push the Direct Connect button (large button on left side) • Wait for the beep, then say “MICU Resident on Scene” Recent Calls Button Scroll Up or Down Button Direct ConnectButton

Sprint Nextel i580 – Replacing a Defective Phone • If for whatever reason a phone stops working: • Call LifeFlight Communications at 322-3211 • Advise them that the phone is not working • Take the non-working phone up to LifeFlight Communications office (Helipad Level, VUH) • LifeFlight Communications will NOT bring a replacement phone to you. You must take the defective phone to them for replacement • LifeFlight Communications will place the SIM card into another phone • This new phone will become the permanent phone • No need to switch phones again until another problem is experienced

  10. Sprint Nextel i580 – Location of LF Communications • Finding LifeFlight Communications: • Take regular elevator to 11th floor • Locate the stairwell and take the stairs all the way up to the Helipad Level • Communications office is on the left on the way out the doors leading to the helipad • The folks in LifeFlight Communications are happy to direct you to their location 322-3211
