2. Improve it by asking yourself whether it has: • Empty words. • Varied sentence length (short for impact and long for suspense). • ‘Premiership’ adjectives and adverbs.
Stylistic devices such as: • Onomatopoeia, • Similes and metaphors, • Personification, • Alliteration.
3. Check its accuracy • Use spell-check on the computer. • Make sure punctuation is used correctly. • Use your punctuation pyramids!
4. Make sure your paragraphs aren’t too long By making sure you start a new paragraph for each change in….
Time e.g. “Later that day…” • Place e.g. “When we reached the…” • Action e.g. “I squeezed through the window of the…”
5. Effective presentation • Select an appropriate font/border. • If possible, include sound effects.
