  1. Attitudes Which Please God Attitude is Importantin Pleasing God. This lesson deals with some attitudes which please God.

  2. Attitudes Which Please God • Thus Noah Did • Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:22

  3. Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” Note Noah’s attitude, regardless of the fact that such a catastrophe had never yet befallen man.

  4. Genesis 6:22 “Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.” Complete submission and faith!

  5. Attitudes Which Please God • Thus Noah Did • Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:22 • Enoch Walked with God • Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5

  6. Genesis 5:24 “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” What does it mean that Enoch walked with God?

  7. Hebrews 11:5 “By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, ‘and was not found, because God had taken him’; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” Unlike most, he sought to please God rather than himself (cf. Romans 15:1-3)

  8. Romans 15:1-3 “We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. 3For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, ‘The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.’”

  9. Attitudes Which Please God • Thus Noah Did • Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:22 • Enoch Walked with God • Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5 • Caleb Followed me Fully • Numbers 14:24; contrast 1 Sam. 15

  10. Numbers 14:24 “But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” God is never pleased with partial obedience.

  11. 1 Samuel 15:13-15 “Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, ‘Blessed are you of the LORD! I have performed the commandment of the LORD.’ 14But Samuel said, ‘What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?’ 15And Saul said, ‘They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.’”

  12. Attitudes Which Please God • Thus Noah Did • Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:22 • Enoch Walked with God • Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5 • Caleb Followed me Fully • Numbers 14:24; contrast 1 Sam. 15 • God Shall Provide a Lamb • Genesis 22:7-8; Hebrews 11:17-19

  13. Genesis 22:7-8 “7But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, ‘My father!’ And he said, ‘Here I am, my son.’ Then he said, ‘Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?’ 8And Abraham said, ‘My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.’ So the two of them went together.”

  14. Hebrews 11:17-19 “By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18of whom it was said, ‘In Isaac your seed shall be called,’19concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.”

  15. Attitudes Which Please God Complete Faith and Submission to God. An attitude of surrender and trust. This is what Christians need to be pleasingto God in their service.
